Every year, Nepal is hit hard by monsoon that causes a huge number of deaths, destruction of property and infrastructure. Nepal is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world because of its jagged surface and unique climatic conditions. It is ranked fourth in terms of vulnerability to climate transformation impacts. The country is susceptible to all sorts of disaster — man-made and natural disasters, like floods, landslides, windstorms, hailstorms et cetera. This year as well, like previous years since the development of Nepal Flood Relief application, we will enable it with specific features that aims to help the flood victims. Nepal Flood Relief is one of the most useful platforms to address all type of emergency response needs that may occur during the flood and landslide related disasters in Nepal.
Nepal Flood Relief aims to help flood victim in a way we can, here are some essential features:
- Push Notification Communication – Status post and updates, Quick help request,
- Latest Flood Status – Live updates, crowd sourced,
- Need Assessments and lists,
- Location Based Volunteers,
- Join Teams and Collaborate
The southern part of the country is battered by monsoon floods whereas the hilly districts are affected by landslides every year. Especially in the Terai region of Nepal, due to the rapid population rise, we come across many cases of encroachment of land and deforestation which ultimately results in flood and landslides. Currently (Monsoon of 2020), more than 25 districts have been facing problems of flood and landslide with the most severe damage observed at Siraha, Sarlahi, Saptari, Mahottari and Rautahat districts of Province 2 and Sunsari, Morang and Udayapur districts of Province 1.
