How to Create a VPN Blocker?

Will VPNs Die?
Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a great trend since they showed up on the internet in 2017. However, as every other trend, VPNs are about to die or they’ll die in the way they are unless continuous innovation.

VPN Blocking
VPNs are technically unblock-able. But as they say – nothing is impossible. Blocking VPNs is tricky. The most common techniques used are:
- With IP Table/List often called DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) of Existing VPN services/providers. This information is available on internet if we dig up some. But this wont be 100% as VPNs are added/modified everyday on large on the internet.
- Multiple step ping – A test request or multiple requests can be sent to a server before the original request. If the response is from random IPs, that could be VPN. This is effective, but not 100%. This method won’t work for Large Dynamic sites such as Facebook, Google, etc.
- Third Party DNS Management: OpenDNS and other Highly specialized DNS Service providers already have VPN Blocking features with them. We can consider replacing our DNS with those.
- Miscellenous: There are several other techniques to detect a connection from VPN. For example check a packet header, Check Policies, Port, etc.
But I don’t think VPNs will die so soon. Why? Because a lot of investors have invested on VPN infrastructures globally and it is yet to yield. VPNs are threats, technically they don’t obey government rules, that might bring it to discussions sometime soon and the next versions of VPN could enroll.
Oh! almost forget to mention. Sharing your private information over VPNs could be risky, be careful.
