It’s us who make a better society. We are all part of it. Now is the time for us to give something back when our society needs us.
Today is the 46th day of lock-down in Nepal. Who would have ever thought about this situation? We’ve all faced the disaster and had one of our most difficult times. Also we’re witnessing the economy crumble.
However, I guess there are some positives which we can pick out. The general facts such as being safe from the virus, a positive change in the climate condition and many more are there. But I would like to focus here about personal development and capitalizing the crisis for productivity. (Productivity here means providing something to the society from our side as a part of CSR)
Let’s get started with Personal Development
There was a busy time in our life where we wished we had more time so that we could focus on our growth. Well, we’ve got one. But did we fully utilize it? Maybe yes for some and no for many. I was also the part of that ‘many‘ category for the first few days. Thereafter, with sessions and guidance from my mentor, I’d realized that being a Digital Marketer this is the time where I can learn best and know about the market psychology even better. Well, I’ve worked on it and seen the changes. That was from a personal experience but the opportunity for growth in this time is for everybody willing to learn and grow.
How were we productive in this Lock-down?
There is no hindrance for anyone who’s got the will to work hard. And for a team that’s got the same desire, “Productivity is inevitable“. This lock-down where the economy has crumbled and businesses have fallen, we’ve managed to increase the level of our productivity. The crisis came unexpected but we’ve worked since day 1 for providing as much as we can to help fight this situation.
- We’ve developed our own Team Collab app – Collaboration tool for Smart Teams and provided it for free to more than 50 companies and are still giving it away for free to anyone who needs and inquires for it.
- We’ve also developed a full fledged COVID-19 Response System with features such as Quarantine Management, Live Tracking Contact Tracing, Relief Management, Volunteer Management and many more. The system is also announced free for all the Local Government Bodies of Nepal. It is already in use for 80+ Local Governments including 3 Metro Cities and the work still goes on. ( A Timeline of our Project: HERE)
What to conclude from this?
To sum up, there’s no stopping the willingness to do or the desire to learn and grow. We’ve got a crisis situation here and as a part of the society it is our responsibility to give something back at such time. Such belief and work done upon it will only lead to positives and productive society. By being productive I mean to give back to the society as a part of our CSR. This lock-down is indeed a difficult time for all of us but the choice on how to face it and what to do in this period depends all upon us. There are many choices but I guess what matters the most at the end will be how much did we bring out of ourselves during this time.

Being a Nepali citizen it is hard in terms of completing a task at any Government office. Everyone of us have had our problems with the current Governance system. And yet we haven’t got a proper solution for it. So, to know what people are looking for on this, I conducted a small survey. The result: They all want “Good Governance”. Yes, it is true- we all do want Good Governance, don’t we? But what if we bring Good Governance out of “Smart Governance”?
“Smart Governance”. Yes you got it right. At this time in the world where we keep saying that everything is possible with technology. So why not Re-engineer Governance?
But is it possible in Nepal? Yes, it actually is and to let you know, the work has already been initiated and implemented in Nepal. If you are not aware on this then FYI this revolution is going on with SmartPalika.
SmartPalika has already taken the initiative of Re-engineering Governance to make smart Nepal. They have created and provided Smart Governance system to different parts of the country. With their system they have already impacted over 700000 people and 27 Local Government bodies. This Governance system benefits both the Government and the public. It assists the local government to keep digital records of all their citizens and activities in their areas. The modules are categorized into 3 parts: Smart Communication, Smart Governance and Smart Information. In short, every local government related work is digitized.
But what about us, the general public? We still are looking for how it benefits us, aren’t we? Not a case to worry because this SmartPalika apps best benefits us. With this Smart Governance system we can perform the local level government activities on our mobile devices. Services such as creating Digital Household, Individual and Local Government Profile, connecting with the respected Mayor, getting emergency services, vital Registrations applications, Digital Citizen Charter and other local level activities for which you regularly face problems visiting your ward offices.
Click here for the Demo of this system.
Therefore, the revolution of Smart Governance is already on the go. SmartPalika’s work is still going on and the aim is Governance Re engineering in every part of the country to make Smart Nepal. We all need this kind of system so that we would not need to face problems that we are facing while visiting and getting work done at the government offices. So let us all participate in this project and spread the idea of Re-engineering the Governance and making Smart Governance system all over Nepal because the current systems only works/will work for those (27) areas whose Government have agreed to make their service smart.
Now it is our responsibility to support, promote and uplift this thought of SmartPalika to make our country a smart country.

Digital Marketing (DM) means marketing of product and services using digital technologies. But what makes it unique? Well, it is a modern way of marketing where we can target our audience, track their behaviors, market our products in a cost effective way and also get insights about our campaigns. Overall it is the best result oriented approach.
There are also different platforms and types of digital marketing. Some types of digital marketing that are widely in use:
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Search Engine Marketing and Pay-Per-Click Advertising.
- Social Media Marketing.
- Content Marketing.
- Affiliate Marketing.
- Email Marketing.
Each of these types require a different platform to operate in. In general, every marketing activity needs a platform to achieve their respective goals. So does Digital Marketing. There are several Digital Marketing Platforms for different types, where the following being some widely used ones:
- Google Adwords,
- Our Blog,
- ShareASale, etc.
All of these above platforms are in use for different reasons and type of products. Each have their own types, significance and reputation over the internet. For instance: Facebook and Instagram are in use for sharing contents and advertising for business. But if needed B2B advertising and target the ad to people’s profession then LinkedIn would be the better Option. Moreover if I am looking for Content Marketing then the likes of Quora and Our Blog can suit me the best. Similarly ShareASale for affiliate marketing, Mailchimp for E-mail Marketing and Google Adwords for Search Engine Marketing are the best options.
Therefore, at this time in the world everything is getting digitized. People are on their devices surfing the web most of their time. Where people on average are spending 3 hours and 15 minutes on their mobile phones there is no better place to show them your content, sell your product or provide your services. This is only possible with the appropriate use of Digital Marketing Channels and Platforms. The amount spend in ads for DM now is $333.25 billion Also with the expected growth of Digital Marketing spends over 18% per year it is certain that Digital Marketing will account for roughly half of the global ad market and there will be more of these platforms and channel forthcoming which could maybe create even more impact in the market.
“Search Engine Optimization (SEO)”! One of the most talked about and emerging topic in the world right now. But, what really is SEO and why is it so important? In simple words, SEO is the art of making web pages attractive and rank higher in the search results. With proper SEO maintenance your website or webpage/posts can rank higher in the search results of the search engines. Thus, it generates more traffic and views to your web contents.
But does Search Engine Optimization needs to be a top priority? Yes, it definitely needs to be the top most priority. According to a stat from Hosting Trinubal (2019), there are over 70 million blogs published on the internet in a month. That means more than 2 million blogs per day. Similarly thousands of websites are being hosted per hour. Fun fact: the users rarely do or most of the times, do not visit the second page of their google search results at all. So, it seems important to rank higher, doesn’t it? Then, to let your content rank at the high and to get traffic/visitors to your page you need Search Engine Optimization because you simply need to be on that top page of the search engine.
However, this is a challenging task because with change in time the ranking algorithms of search engines are getting more and more strict. Even the smallest of things matter. You simply cannot ignore any of the factors that affects your page’s SEO. There are several SEO factors that affects the rankings:
- On-Page SEO
- Meta Descriptions
- Image Alt Texts
- URL Structure
- Internal Linkings
- Page Perfromance
- Content Quality
- Off-Page SEO
- Domain Authority
- Anchor Texts
- Traffic/ Reviews/ Trust
These are just the basic factors that helps you rank higher in the search results. In addition, there are still more sub-factors inside those above factors.
Therefore, Search Engine Optimization is the first and the most important task to do if you are looking to build up your reputation in the internet. Not just getting traffic and more views, SEO will lead to better user experience, generate leads for your business, manage your promotion costs, create Synergy of all marketing activities online and finally take you ahead of the competition. So, if you are going to post any website or content on your site you might as well take the time to make sure that google takes notice of your effort.
